The Oscar nominated film Selma captures the work of Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1965 Civil Rights/voting march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala. For this special screening, longtime educator Elizabeth (Betty) Asche Douglas will provide a brief introduction in word and song. Douglas, who retired from Geneva College but remains active as an advocate, artist and musician, met King and fellow minister-activist T.J. Jemison in 1953--the summer of the first (and successful) boycott over segregation on public buses in Baton Rouge, La.
