New Location Brings Resiliency Programs to Area Service Members and Families
Moon Township, PA – The United Service Organizations (USO), whose mission is to strengthen service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, announced today that it opened an office at the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, home of the U.S. Air Force 911th Airlift Wing and the Navy Operational Support Center.
Christine Ree is the Western PA Operations Manager for the USO responsible for building awareness and support for the organization.  She also manages a variety of programs that provide comfort, care and support to area service members and their families.
For nearly eight decades, the USO has served the needs of the active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families.  Two popular programs include Rucksacks to Backpacks which offers back-to-school supplies for military children and the Bob Hope Legacy Reading Program which keeps families connected by allowing service members to record themselves reading a children’s story and have that recording shipped home along with the book.
In peacetime and in war, for 79 years, the USO has been there for American service members and their families – no matter where they are in the world,” said Ree.  “It’s an honor to be part of that legacy, and I am so excited to be bringing USO support to the men and women serving in Western Pennsylvania.”
According to Ree, the USO relies heavily on the support of volunteers.  “Around the world, more than 30,000 volunteers provide the manpower necessary to accomplish our mission.  These dedicated men and women give more than 1.6 million hours per year.  It’s easy to join us.  Just visit uso.org/take-action/volunteer to register.”  Companies and organizations interested in partnering opportunities should contact Ree at 412-427-4753.
