    Job Description

    Under the limited supervision of the Director of Planning, the incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the environmental compliance programs at Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airports.

    At the ACAA we all have a role in the ambitious transformation of becoming a smarter airport that will enhance the passenger experience and deliver on our mission of being a global aviation leader. Here is how the Manager, Environmental Compliance will help:
    • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of environmental function.
    • Develop and manage environmental programs such as environmental monitoring, facility or site assessment, and corrective action programs, remediation, and pollution prevention.
    • Ensure programs for handling environmental issues are in full compliance with applicable regulations and permits.
    • Make recommendations concerning compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permits.
    • Analyze environmental legislation and regulations, provide input into the process, and determine impact on Airport Authority activities.
    • Analyze environmental policy and technical issues for impact on Airport Authority activities and develop proposed positions.
    • Work with Airport Authority staff in developing and implementing programs for environmental compliance, monitoring, training, reporting, facility or site assessment, corrective action programs, remediation, and pollution prevention.
    • Provide management and technical oversight of Airport Authority consultants performing environmental work or studies.
    • Act as liaison with governmental agencies, contractors, airport tenants and Airport Authority staff for environmental matters.
    • Conduct periodic on-site inspections of service centers, tenant, contractor and other Airport Authority operations and premises.
    • Supervise submittal of all environmental applications, reports, correspondence, and fees.
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned or directed.

    The successful candidate in the Manager, Environmental Compliance role will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: 
    • Requires considerable knowledge of environmental compliance, best practices, and training standards. Inclusive of:
    • Knowledge of Title V Air Permitting Program
    • Knowledge of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program
    • Considerable ability to assimilate technical information about environmental issues and act on elements that apply to airport operations.
    • Strong attention to detail and taking action to meet compliance regulations.
    • Ability to keep abreast of trends and related best practices.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    The minimum requirements needed to qualify for the Manager, Environmental Compliance will role are:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related subject. Master’s degree a plus.
    • Five years progressively responsible experience in environmental management, preferably in the air transportation industry.
    • Possess or obtain prior to employment a valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license.  Note: license must be maintained throughout employment.
