    Job Summary

    ACAA’s Commercial Contracts Attorney will report to the Sr. Commercial Counsel and assumes responsibility for contract review, assisting with business negotiations, identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, and presenting clear recommendations to top management. The person who takes on this role will help to create a Smarter Airport and to realize ACAA’s leadership in global aviation by:   

    • Provide sound, accurate, and practical legal advice, opinions, and solutions regarding issues and risks relating to the ongoing and rapidly expanding business.
    • Prepare, negotiate, draft, and finalize a wide variety of sophisticated commercial customer-related contracts including licensing/vendor agreements, master service agreements, statements of work, professional services agreements, and/or other related contracts with third parties and vendors.
    • Facilitate clear communication, evaluations, and reporting of ongoing contract negotiations.
    • Assist senior attorneys in negotiation of strategic contracts.
    • Advise and counsel internal teams with respect to the legal policies, risks, and the legal implications of proposed transactions or projects, and confirm that these transactions are in compliance with the organization’s structure, policies, and procedures while maintaining open communication and good working relationships.
    • Manage and collaborate with outside counsel in the preparation, drafting, and negotiation strategy of various commercial agreements.  
    • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

     

     The successful candidate for the role of Commercial Contracts Attorney will demonstrate the following key competencies needed in our culture:

     Qualifications

     Requirements to apply for role of Commercial Contracts Attorney are:

    • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited school of law.
    • Three (3) years legal experience in a law firm or as corporate or in-house legal counsel.
    • Active Pennsylvania Bar License and a member in good standing. 
    • Must be available to travel, occasionally.

     

    We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases:  

    • Extensive knowledge of, and ability to understand, interpret, advise, and apply, federal, state, regional, local, and aviation law, regulations, policies, standards, and practices of complex, specialized, and diverse business transactions and processes.
    • Advanced ability to exercise sound, expert, independent judgments, provide accurate counsel, and reach appropriate conclusions within broad policies and guidelines.
    • Strong ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive correspondence, reports, studies, and other written materials.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Authority management, staff, consultants, representatives of federal, state, local and regional agencies, business and community groups, the development community, media representatives, the public, and others encountered in the course of work.
    • Ability to travel 5%.

    • ACAA’s dental plans (included with healthcare coverage) offer an option covering children’s orthodontia.
    • Employees also can take advantage of a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help pay for health care and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.

    • All eligible full-time ACAA employees participate in the Allegheny County Employees Pension Plan, a defined-benefit plan that vests after 10 years of service.

    • A robust Employee Assistance Program (including access to free counselling sessions, financial guidance, and care coordination), life insurance options, a wellness program, and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program round out ACAA’s exemplary benefits.
